Beverly Carter's loved ones facing reality as search comes to an end

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - "This case did not end as we had hoped," a somber Pulaski County Sheriff Doc Holladay says as he stands before the public in a Tuesday afternoon press conference with news that the search for Beverly Carter had come to an end.

Holladay continues, "We wanted to do everything that we could to find her while she was still alive. We weren't able to do that." Pulaski County searchers found the missing real estate agent about 20 miles from where she reportedly disappeared on the property of Argos Southern Star Concrete, where suspect Arron Lewis most recently worked. Investigators found Carter's body in a shallow grave.

Realtor's murder sparks debate over issues with Arkansas parole system

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Beverly Carter's murder has renewed the debate over the state of Arkansas' parole system.

Her accused killer, Arron Lewis, was on parole and is not the first Arkansas parolee to be accused of murder in the last couple years.

The state Department of Community Correction today told THV11 Lewis was a "pretty good parolee", reporteing to his parole officer regularly, passing all his drug tests and paying all his fees. Some say that is even more reason to tighten the state's parole laws.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- North Little Rock police say there is no new information in the disappearance of two local women.

Both Shequenia Burnett, 36, and Terkessa Wallace, 34, were reported missing in January 2014.

Officer Shana Cobbs told THV 11 at the time that they are two separate missing persons cases, and she said "(police) have no reason to believe that they are together at this time."

Shequenia's mother reported her missing after family found the door to Shequenia's apartment open Jan 9. Police did not find any evidence of foul play or anything to suggest she was taken against her will.

Her family believes she may be with a man in College Station.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - In a 911 tape a caller says, "This guy looks like him." Monday morning Little Rock police get a tip. The caller continues, "And he is nervous. He's out here at a bus stop."

Around 10 a.m. Arron Lewis was arrested and spent hours being interviewed and questioned about his role in the disappearance of real estate agent Beverly Carter. Sheriff Doc Holladay explains, "We will have him here for as long as we need to determine what we can from him to lead us to locating Ms. Carter, which is our primary goal.

Authorities are providing very little information in regard to Lewis's connection to Carter, which prompted THV11 to dig into his background, in search of people who may know him.
