Construction zones along Highway 67/167 about to get more complicated

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) – Construction zones on Highway 67/167 through Jacksonville are about to get a lot more complicated.

The project is designed to widen the federal highway farther north along the busy Little Rock artery. Danny Straessle with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said one of the tricky parts is dealing with outdated off-ramps at exits in the construction zone.

"There's a delicate balance in the phasing of this construction here because you have ramps that are short that we're lengthening there and providing adequate distance in the new configuration," he explained.

The nearly $42 million project is expected to continue through the middle of 2016.
