Fight breaks out at Jacksonville Splash Zone, 11 in custody


JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - Ten minors were taken into custody Saturday after police were called to break up fights at the Jacksonville Splash Zone.

The Jacksonville Police Department responded to the Splash Zone Water Park located at 201 West Martin Street around 3 p.m. Saturday. According to Jacksonville Police Spokesperson April Kiser, they were receiving reports of fights that were at the time taking place in the lobby of the facility. Once officers arrived, the fights had moved out into the parking lot.

A Splash Zone employee told THV11 that the fights were caused by a 70-person youth group attending the water park. She stated that when fights broke out, they wanted to take extra precautions. The Jacksonville Police Department, Arkansas State Police, Cabot Police Department, Pulaski County Sheriff's Office and the Sherwood Police Department were all called to help break up the fights.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Bailey Chapel Baptist Church of North Little Rock will host its annual fun day on August 15 for the community to enjoy. 

From 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. the church will host their community fun day with the goal of reaching out to the area to inform, instruct and encourage. 

There will be several activities for the people of all ages to take part in.

Septic truck driver killed in crash in Jacksonville


JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say a Redfield man was killed when the septic truck he was driving crashed in Jacksonville.

Arkansas State Police say 49-year-old Dennis Brasher died as a result of the crash on Monday. A Lonoke man who was riding in the truck was injured and is hospitalized in undisclosed condition.

Pulaski County deputies who responded to the crash say Brasher died after being removed from the vehicle.

A state police report says the truck was driven by Brasher and went off the roadway and into a ditch, then flipped and crashed into a tree.

Holmes to return home for Little Rock Fashion Week

Little Rock, Ark. – Since 2009 Brandon D. Campbell has been producing Little Rock Fashion Week (LRFW), and this year will be unlike any other experience.

July 13-July 18 will be a week filled with memorable fashion moments. On July 18, LRFW will hold its BIG Night exclusive fashion event on the fourth block of Main Street in downtown Little Rock. It will mark the return of Little Rock’s very own TV news personality Keristen Holmes as the show host.

“I couldn’t be more excited to go back home to host LRFW Big Night”, says Holmes. Holmes, a local southern news anchor, is how one would describe her, “I’m just a girl from Pike who made it.”

Holmes is a North Little Rock native. Holmes states, “As a high school student, I was involved in every activity from cheerleading to competitive speech.” At North Little Rock High she was her own renaissance woman in the making.

SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) – Sherwood police said a man was found dead Wednesday morning at an apartment complex.

According to Lt. Jamie Michaels, 41-year-old Leon Hawkison, Jr., was found dead at the Links Apartments sometime on July 8. In addition, his 2013 black Toyota Camry with Arkansas license plate 225 WTN was discovered missing.

Police are currently investigating the Hawkison's death as a homicide.

CADC accepting applications for summer LIHEAP program

BENTON, Ark. (CADC) - Central Arkansas Development Council is currently accepting applications for the summer regular Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) utility assistance with mass intake days that begin July 6, 2015.

Officer Daniel DiMatteo Retirement Ceremony

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The Jacksonville Police Department is sending off one of their own with a bang. 

A retirement ceremony and luncheon is being hosted by the department for Officer Daniel DiMatteo on Friday, July 10.

The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the FEMA room located within the Jacksonville Police Department. Following the ceremony will be a pot luck luncheon. The department is asking all employees and retirees that will be attending to please bring a side dish. Food sign-up sheets will be posted in each division of the department.
