Jacksonville police providing new way to keep thier citizens informed

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The Jacksonville Police Department will now be using a new website based tool for the citizens of Jacksonville. 

At the Jacksonville police website, there is now a new tab labeled "Calls for Service" that will help the citizens of Jacksonville stay informed on what is going on in their town. The Calls for Service and Events reports is a list of the calls and self-initiated incidents the Jacksonville police enters into their Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system during the 24 hour period specified that is available for public release. 

Some events may be removed so that it will not hinder crime suppression efforts.

Back-to-School "Splash"

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - Jacksonville Parks & Recreation is sponsoring a Back to School “Splash” at Splash Zone on Friday, August 21 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Families are invited to slip, slide and dive into the night at the last bash of the summer.

Admission is $5 at the door, slides are free. Enter for a chance to win a backpack filled with school supplies.

Must be 48 inches or taller to ride the slides. Children under 9 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Concession will be available. The event will be handicap accessible. In the event that it rains the day of the party, the event will be held at the Jacksonville Community Center.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark - Not even a nearly record-breaking hot day could prevent the excitement around the show and entertainment behind the outdoor event on the 4th block of Main Street in downtown Little Rock at the Big Night.

Little Rock’s very own native and TV news personality, Keristen Holmes, returned home to host Big Night, presenting returning designers and new designers as they showcased their clothing lines while models strutted in the designer’s collection on the runway at the seventh annual Little Rock Fashion Week (LRFW).

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. - Jacksonville Parks & Recreation fall sports leagues registration is now open. 

The deadline for Adult Softball is August 27. Co-ed Volleyball & Flag Football deadline is August 28. League games begin early September.

Coaches meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 27 at the Jacksonville Community Center.

NLR church hosts community fun day

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Bailey Chapel Baptist Church of North Little Rock will host its annual fun day on August 15 for the community to enjoy. 

From 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. the church will host their community fun day with the goal of reaching out to the area to inform, instruct and encourage. 

There will be several activities for the people of all ages to take part in.

Holmes to return home for Little Rock Fashion Week

Little Rock, Ark. – Since 2009 Brandon D. Campbell has been producing Little Rock Fashion Week (LRFW), and this year will be unlike any other experience.

July 13-July 18 will be a week filled with memorable fashion moments. On July 18, LRFW will hold its BIG Night exclusive fashion event on the fourth block of Main Street in downtown Little Rock. It will mark the return of Little Rock’s very own TV news personality Keristen Holmes as the show host.

“I couldn’t be more excited to go back home to host LRFW Big Night”, says Holmes. Holmes, a local southern news anchor, is how one would describe her, “I’m just a girl from Pike who made it.”

Holmes is a North Little Rock native. Holmes states, “As a high school student, I was involved in every activity from cheerleading to competitive speech.” At North Little Rock High she was her own renaissance woman in the making.

Man found dead at apartment complex, car missing

Man found dead at apartment complex, car missing

SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) – Sherwood police said a man was found dead Wednesday morning at an apartment complex.

According to Lt. Jamie Michaels, 41-year-old Leon Hawkison, Jr., was found dead at the Links Apartments sometime on July 8. In addition, his 2013 black Toyota Camry with Arkansas license plate 225 WTN was discovered missing.

Police are currently investigating the Hawkison's death as a homicide.
