Jacksonville Junior CPAs graduate

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The Jacksonville Police Department will graduate their fifth class of youth citizen police academy attendees. 

The Junior Citizens Police Academy is a five-day training experience for the youth to see the day-to-day procedures of police officers in their neighborhood. 

The academy began on Monday, June 22 and will last until Friday, June 26. Participants were informed on different aspects of law enforcement including Community Policing, Criminal Investigations, Patrol Duties, Use of Force, Firearms, K-9 Duties, SRT Demonstration, Narcotics and Less Lethal Weapons. 

The course was free and lunch was donated by local businesses each day. 

The graduation ceremony will take place at noon on Friday in the safe room of the Jacksonville Police Department. The guest speaker at the ceremony will be the Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.

Battle of the Badges Blood Drive

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Little Rock and North Little Rock's finest will be hosting the annual "Battle of the Badges Blood Drive" for American Red Cross on Friday. 

There is reportedly always a big need for blood donations during the holiday weekend, so North Little Rock Officials began an annual blood drive to help. 

The North Little Rock Police and the North Little Rock Fire Department will be competing and against Little Rock police and the Little Rock Fire Department for the team with the most blood donations. 

The blood drive will be held in the ballroom of the Patrick Henry Hays Center from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. While all blood donors are needed, the type 'O' is most needed. 

There will be free t-shirts being given out, as wells as plenty of food and drinks.

18th Annual Youth Fishing Derby

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - Fish enthusiasts ages 15 and under are preparing for a day of outdoor fun in Jacksonville. 

Jacksonville Parks and Recreation along with Arkansas Game and Fish are hosting their 18th Annual Youth Fishing Derby Saturday, June 20 at Dupree Lake at #1 Park St. 

Registration is free and will begin at 7 a.m. The tournament will start at 8 a.m. and will last until 10 a.m. rain or shine. 

Prizes will be awarded for different derby categories such as smallest fish caught, most fish caught and longest fish caught. Participants must be present to receive the awards.

Splash Zone celebrates its 10th year

Splash Zone celebrates its 10th year

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - Splash Zone wants to celebrate their tenth year of business with the public, so they are having a party. 

On Friday, May 22 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Splash Zone at 201 Martin Street in Jacksonville, Ark. will be having a celebration that will include chances to win Splash Zone passes and other giveaways. Admission in to the park will be $5, and slides will be free. Those who attend must be 48" or taller to ride the slides. 

Concession food and drinks will be available.

Local junior golfers compete for national competition

CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - The Conway Country Club plans to host a tournament for local junior golfer at the beginning of June. 

The Arkansas District of Optimist International is inviting all local junior golfer to compete in the Arkansas Junior Optimist Qualifying Golf Tournament Saturday, June 6. Girls and boys ages 10 through 18 are eligible to compete. 

Winners of the competition can qualify to compete in the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships at the PGA National Resort and Spa Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. in late July.

Joint operation leads to multiple arrests on drug charges

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV)  - The Lonoke County Sheriff's Office along with the Jacksonville Police Department and the Cabot Police Department served a search warrant to the residence of 505 South Stagecoach Road in Lonoke County Tuesday, April 21, leading to the discovery of large amounts of illegal narcotics and firearms. 

When officers entered the residence off Stagecoach Road, they found approximately 26 grams of methamphetamine in individual baggies, numerous prescription narcotic pills, drug paraphernalia, seven firearms to include a stolen firearm and $1,387 dollars. 

Suspects that were taken into custody include:

  • Bonnie Holden of Cabot
  • Randy Holden of Cabot
  • Donald Bredenberg of Jacksonville

A couple taking photos outside homes now suspects of theft

AUSTIN, Ark. (KTHV) - A couple is wanted for stealing outdoor items in a residential neighborhood off Pershing Street in Austin, Ark. Saturday.

The Austin Police Department received a call about suspicious activity in the Pershing Street neighborhood Saturday. Residents stated that a male and female were driving around in a dark colored Hyundai Santa Fe asking about the homes in the area and taking photographs.

An owner of one the residents off Pershing Street later reported stolen property from outside of their home. 

One of the suspects was described as a white female with long curly dark hair and tattoos. Her accomplice was said to be a bald white man with a goatee.
