Pulaski Tech extends fall enrollment deadline

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Pulaski Technical College has extended the registration for the fall semester an extra four days to Thursday, Aug. 13.

Classes start Monday,Aug. 17.

Students can register in person at the Main Campus at 3000 West Scenic Drive in North Little Rock or at the Little Rock-South site at 13000 Interstate 30 in Little Rock. The hours are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Offices stay open until 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Main Campus and until 6 p.m Thursday at Little Rock-South.

Students who have never attended any college must meet minimum reading scores on the ACT or COMPASS assessment.  The COMPASS will be administered on a walk-in basis on these dates prior to the deadline:

Monday, Aug. 10: 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Main Campus and Little Rock-South

Tuesday, Aug. 11: 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. at Main Campus

Wednesday, Aug. 12: 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Main Campus

Thursday, Aug. 13: 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. at Little Rock-South

The hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays.

New students should submit an application online at www.pulaskitech.edu and submit required admissions documents. Students will then schedule an appointment with an advisor for course selection and registration. Day and evening appointments are available.

Students who have never attended college must pass minimum reading scores on the ACT or COMPASS assessment. The college offers an online COMPASS prep course and administers the COMPASS on a walk-in basis.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Bailey Chapel Baptist Church of North Little Rock will host its annual fun day on August 15 for the community to enjoy. 

From 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. the church will host their community fun day with the goal of reaching out to the area to inform, instruct and encourage. 

There will be several activities for the people of all ages to take part in.

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The Jacksonville Parks and Recreation Department is hosting their annual Big Bang on the Range Firework Show for Independence Day. 

The event will be held at the Jacksonville Shooting Sports Complex on Saturday, July 4 starting at 6 p.m. The fireworks display will begin at 9 :30 p.m. 

Officials ask that the public bring chairs and blankets for lawn seating. The show is free and open to everyone. There will also be concession food available.

Jacksonville Junior CPAs graduate

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The Jacksonville Police Department will graduate their fifth class of youth citizen police academy attendees. 

The Junior Citizens Police Academy is a five-day training experience for the youth to see the day-to-day procedures of police officers in their neighborhood. 

The academy began on Monday, June 22 and will last until Friday, June 26. Participants were informed on different aspects of law enforcement including Community Policing, Criminal Investigations, Patrol Duties, Use of Force, Firearms, K-9 Duties, SRT Demonstration, Narcotics and Less Lethal Weapons. 

The course was free and lunch was donated by local businesses each day. 

The graduation ceremony will take place at noon on Friday in the safe room of the Jacksonville Police Department. The guest speaker at the ceremony will be the Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.
